Preisverleihung in Mannheim für 2013
Von Projekten aus dem Bereich Naturschutz bis hin zum Thema Abfall und Recycling, vom Kindergarten bis zur Berufsbildenden Schule: Im Rahmen des Wettbewerbs „Umwelt findet Schutz in Mannheim 2013“ beweisen die jungen Umweltschützer/innen, dass sich unsere Natur auf vielfältige Art und Weise schützen lässt. Insgesamt zehn vorbildliche Projekte wurden beim Wettbewerb der Klimaschutzagentur Mannheim in Kooperation mit der Stadt Mannheim ausgezeichnet. Die Preisverleihung im Technoseum Mannheim bildete den Abschluss des erfolgreichen Wettbewerbs.
Ob im Rahmen einer Projektwoche zum Thema Wasser, während einer Pilzexkursion im Wald oder beim Bau von Möbeln aus Müll: Auf welch vielfältige und kreative Art und Weise sich die Natur erkunden und die Umwelt schützen lässt, zeigen die Projekte, die im Rahmen des diesjährigen Wettbewerbs ausgezeichnet wurden. „Kinder und Jugendliche können gar nicht früh genug damit anfangen, sich aktiv für ihre Umwelt einzusetzen“, betonte Umweltbürgermeisterin Felicitas Kubala. „Deshalb ist ein solcher Wettbewerb, in dem kreative Ideen für den Umweltschutz gefordert sind, ein wichtiger Anreiz, sich mit diesem Thema auseinanderzusetzen“.
Überreicht wurden die in diesem Jahr vergebenen Preise durch Bürgermeisterin Kubala im Rahmen der Preisverleihung im Technoseum Mannheim. Insgesamt wurde ein Preisgeld in Höhe von 5.000 Euro auf alle Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmer verteilt. Über Auszeichnungspreise und 650 Euro konnten sich die Kinderhäuser Cheliusstraße und St. Elisabeth, die Rheinau Förderschule sowie die Familie Burkhardt freuen. Sie überzeugten die Jury, bestehend aus Vertretern der Klimaschutzagentur und der Stadt Mannheim, mit ihren Ideen wie das Recyceln von Holzabfällen zu neuen Gartenmöbeln, den Bau eines Insektenhotels oder eine Projektwoche zum Thema Pilze. Besonderen Respekt zollte die Jury dem Projekt der Klasse 9 der Pfingstbergschule. Für ihr vorbildliches Engagement erhielten die drei Projektverantwortlichen der Klasse einen Sonderpreis in Höhe von 650 Euro. Mit ihrer Aktion „Hundedreck vor unserer Schule – Nein Danke!“ machten die Schülerinnen und Schüler mit kreativen Ideen auf das Problem aufmerksam. Zudem wurde das Amt für Abfallwirtschaft kontaktiert, das daraufhin einen Tütenspender vor der Schule aufstellte. Alle weiteren Bewerberinnen und Bewerber wurden mit einem Anerkennungspreis in Höhe von 250 Euro gewürdigt.

Mit dem Wettbewerb „Umwelt findet Schutz in Mannheim“ zeichnet die Klimaschutzagentur Mannheim in Kooperation mit der Stadt Mannheim die besten Ideen und Projekte von Kindern und Jugendlichen für einen aktiven und nachhaltigen Umweltschutz aus. Prämiert wurden bereits umgesetzte Projekte und Aktionen, die den Umweltschutz oder umweltorientiertes Verhalten fördern. Die Maßnahmen können aus den Bereichen Klimaschutz und Energie, Natur- und Umweltschutz, Abfallvermeidung und Recycling sowie Artenschutz von Tieren und Pflanzen stammen.
