Eine Sondererhebung an allen Haupt- und Werkrealschulen im Land hat ergeben, dass mehr als 50 Prozent der Schülerinnen und Schüler für den Übergang in Klasse 10 gemeldet wurden. Im vergangenen Schuljahr, als es für den Wechsel in die 10. Klasse der Werkrealschule noch eine Notenhürde gab, lag die Übergangsquote bei rund 23 Prozent. Die grün-rote Landesregierung hat im Zuge der Weiterentwicklung der Werkrealschule den Wegfall der Notenhürde beschlossen. Zudem steht ab dem kommenden Schuljahr die Einrichtung einer 10. Klasse allen Hauptschulen offen, sofern eine Mindestschülerzahl von 16 erreicht wird. Werkrealschulen müssen nicht mehr zwingend zweizügig sein. „Es zeichnet sich ab, dass die Öffnung des 10. Schuljahres an der Werkrealschule für alle Schülerinnen und Schüler ein voller Erfolg ist. So werden wir unser Ziel erreichen, die Zahl der mittleren Bildungsabschlüsse zu erhöhen“, sagte Kultusministerin Gabriele Warminski-Leitheußer. Gleichzeitig verringert sich die Zahl der Schülerinnen und Schüler, die sich für die zweijährige Berufsfachschule bewerben, nur um 15 Prozent. Das stellt die weiterhin hohe Akzeptanz dieser Schulart unter Beweis.
Die bei der Sondererhebung ermittelten Zahlen für die Werkrealschule bestätigen auch die Prognose des Kultusministeriums, die der Ressourcenberechnung für die neue Werkrealschule zugrunde lag. Detaillierte Aussagen zu den tatsächlichen Schülerzahlen können derzeit nicht gemacht werden, weil sich die Schülerinnen und Schüler an der Haupt- und Werkrealschule bis zum Beginn des kommenden Schuljahrs immer noch für einen Ausbildungsplatz im dualen System entscheiden können.
Mit der neuen Werkrealschule leiste die Landesregierung auch einen Beitrag zur Steigerung der Ausbildungsreife der Schülerinnen und Schüler, sagte Warminski-Leitheußer. „Die Berufsorientierung wird an der Werkrealschule breiter angelegt. Die Schülerinnen und Schüler werden besser individuell gefördert und erhalten noch mehr Hilfe bei der Suche nach dem richtigen Einstieg in den Beruf.“ Die beiden Fächer „Berufsorientierende Bildung“ und „Kompetenztraining“ werden neu eingeführt. Bei der Umsetzung der berufsbezogenen Wahlpflichtfächer „Natur und Technik“, „Wirtschaft und Informationstechnik“, „Gesundheit und Soziales“ werden zudem die Spielräume für die Schulen größer. Dadurch können sie diese Fächer künftig nach den schulischen Bedürfnissen gestalten und sie bis in die zehnte Klasse fortführen.
Schülerinnen und Schüler, die nicht den mittleren Bildungsabschluss anstreben, profitieren ebenfalls von der 10. Klasse, da diese verbunden mit vertiefter Übung eine weitere Chance auf einen guten Hauptschulabschluss bietet. Durch die intensive Berufswegeplanung mit Praktika in Betrieben ist dann ein nahtloser Übergang in die duale Berufsausbildung möglich.
